1996
The company’s core activity began with the distribution of liquefied petroleum products in the south-west of Romania and with the road transport of goods.
1998 - 2000
The road transport of goods is perfected and becomes the main activity of the Dumagas Transport company.
2000 - 2005
By investing in vehicles, equipment and human resources and by continuously improving the quality of services, Dumagas Transport experiences an accelerated development, becoming one of the most important transporters on the Romanian market and gaining reputation on the transport market throughout Europe. More and more famous companies in Europe rely on the transport services offered by Dumagas, which has determined the company’s actions to intensify on the profile market throughout the continent.
Dumagas Transport also becomes one of the largest freight companies in Romania and the customers positive reviews determine the development and diversification of the trucks and semi-trailers fleet. It also leads to signing new contracts with more and more subcontractors approved in the Dumagas system on a multi-specialization basis (tarpaulins, refrigerated vans, tankers, transporters, logistics, distribution).
2006 - 2009
Dumagas Transport is offering a full package of services, both in transport and logistics, opening national distribution centers for all types of products, including refrigerated and frozen products in Craiova and Bucharest.
In 2008, Dumagas Transport opens the new warehouse of 10.240 sqm in the premises of Mercury Business Park (Bucuresti-Pitesti highway, km 22).
2009 - 2011
The period marks a significant moment for the company: Dumagas Transport attracts the British investment fund, Bancroft and then increases the truck fleet by 40%. Thus, the company manages to convince an important investment fund, with high-quality shareholders, of the solidity of its business and the quality of the professionals who make up the Dumagas Transport team.
Dumagas carries out annually over 50,000 transports, becoming one of the biggest players on the transport market in Eastern Europe and a recognized brand in the large markets of EU member countries and the Middle East.
The company continues to be among the top 3 transport operators in Romania, investing over 20 million euros in fixed assets. The Dumagas Group ends up having approximately 900 employees, offering jobs at European standards.
2012 - 2014
In 2014, an assessment of the company’s condition is carried out and the process of modernization and restructuring of the transport activity begins immediately. At the end of the year, the restructuring of the domestic transport department begins and the old and poorly performing trucks are replaced with newer and modern semi-trailers. At this point begins a long-term partnership with local subcontractors who have guaranteed increased performance and stability. Also, at the end of 2014, the first business plan for renewing the international transport fleet was designed.
2015 - 2019
The fleet upgrade process continued throughout the years between 2015 and 2020, reaching the end of 2020 with a modern fleet and an average age of 2 years. The upgrade of the fleet brought the company a substantial increase in the everyday operational process by making the truck operation system more efficient:
- The new trucks have reduced fuel consumption from over 35 liters/100km to under 30 liters/100km
- The cost of the service activity has been substantially reduced from year to year
- Activity control has been improved along with the logistics of transport operations
- Driver safety has improved thanks to the new control and safety systems on board the newly purchased trucks, as well as constant communication with them and close monitoring through the company’s marketing activities
The Department of Domestic Transport for temperature-controlled products has been completely modernized and restructured so that Dumagas is in the top 3 most important operators in the country and the most important partners for customers such as Kaufland, Lidl or Unilever.
2020 - 2022
The pandemic requires bringing trucks to Romania and rethinking the entire international transport strategy. Through the openness and support received from the state, Dumagas decides to gradually restart the international transport activity, and at the beginning of 2021, Dumagas reaches almost 100 trucks in operation.
During the pandemic, the Domestic transport department supported the company and brought additional income and profits to cover the losses and the reduction of the activity in the international transport.
2023
Dumagas is taken over by Omnia Capital, a company active on the mergers and purchases market. At this moment, the company’s views are significantly expanding because Omnia Capital’s goal is to develop a transport platform around Dumagas through other purchases, building a trans-European group. Such a group will be able to consolidate the know-how that each company has, it will be able to better serve existing customers and, at the same time, it will be able to approach new categories of customers.
In the new context, Dumagas met all the KPIs related to Q1, special results being achieved through automotive transport, road transport and operation in the BeNeLux and UK geographic region. At the same time, the team had results in line with the budget forecasts for 2023 and is preparing to access new opportunities, aiming to align with the standards of international competitors.
